Yes, I have great concerns about this. My staff and clients already have problems finding parking in Englewood. I thought Englewood was supposed to help businesses not hurt them. M.P. -

The City of Englewood is going through the most severe budget cuts in years.
Council discussed cuts in services ranging from 10-15%. Council firmly
set a priorty those cuts. The parks and recreation department will bear the
brunt of the cuts as council directed the city manager to put safety as a
priority. A fiscally responsible move in these hard economic times.
So why then did council immediately move forward with a brand new project while other parks and recreation progams face the chopping block? Council gave the nod to Jill Wison's community garden project that has a pricetag of $20,000.
Why? Was it really because the garden will produce a plethera of vegitables for local homess shelters? $20,000 in cash would go a lot further toward that cause. No the reason is simple.
It's Jill Wilson's pet project and the rest of council was afraid to tell her no.
The failure of the mayor and councilmen not to stand up to Ms. Wilson is reprehensible when you consider what other parks and recreation jobs will be cut because of this program. How much does a lifegaurd cost at the pool? How about the crew that cuts, waters and maintains the parks? After school programs for kids? I think you get the idea.

Why do you say it is fiscally responsible to cut the parks and rec budget? That's one thing my children love and wish Englewood would pay more attention to. We could use an ice-skating site in a park in winter.
I think they should stop suing their own citizens for stupid disagreements! Geez, cut that pork. Learn to negotiate.
Community gardens could help develop community and may fit within parks?
