The discussion last summer was regarding the selection of an energy auditing firm, and when Ameresco was contracted. The solar system talked about recently was not part of that discussion.

My calculation was for residential which is cheaper than industrial. Just take the whole bill including the fees and taxes and subtracted the gas amount and figured from there.

Solar does have some potential.
It is unclear at this point how much electricity the City will contract. They may have already bought a PV panel for city hall with a capacity of 10kw. They were talking about $100k cost....that is $10/watt.....and 10kw will power 6 electric skillets! -Doodlebug

Our first Community Forum with residents of Englewood and myself at the Hampden Hall room at City Hall on January 7th at 6:30-8:00pm. If you could, please send this email to everyone you know that lives in Englewood especially District #4 and let them know about this meeting. We are breaking new ground here so I am hoping that we can get as many people to attend this meeting as possible.

Hampden Hall is on the 2nd floor of the Englewood Civic Center on Hampden near Sante Fe. This room is located above the Library.

In the January 7th Meeting we will be discussing the following:

1.) Englewood Police will have Representatives of the new Impact Team to discuss what their goal is for the community and take any questions you may have for them. This is a great new police program and you will want to hear what they are planning!

2.) I will present the New Community Web Site (www.EnglewoodCitizen.com presently in construction) where you can Blog, Post and Read “Englewood Only” Classifieds such as Jobs, Yard/Garage Sales, Homes for sale/Rent, Etc, There will also me an Online Calendar of what is happening in the Englewood Community that may interest you. It will include lots of other great info you will want to have access to!

3.) We will discuss what is happening at Pirates Cove and the repairs going on there.

4.) Another hot topic is the new rules for unleashed dogs at certain Englewood Parks.

5.) We will discuss the new Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and what Council is doing regarding those issues.

6.) I will take your questions and comments on any other issue that you may have for me as a Representative of City Council!

7.) Much More! We are planning for some other guests to be there as well but they have not confirmed as of this email. I am expecting other City representatives to be available as well.

This will be a well attended meeting and will start on time and hopefully end on time. There will be time after the meeting for one on one conversations with me and the representatives of the Englewood Police. Don’t miss this!

Again, please help me get the word out! I will be passing out a bunch of Flyers letting residents know about this meeting and definitely need your help with this. If you can offer any assistance, or know of anyone who can, please give me a call directly at (303) 246-4780

Look forward to seeing you at the Jan. 7th Community Meeting! Please spread the word!

Rick Gillit
City Councilman District #4

No way.
Not until the 18% efficiency panels are mandated.
Not only that we have to have an amortized situation for their degradation.
Why not get to the point of energy independence and carbon neutrality and consider more Nuclear.
Yes it is safe, yes it does NOT emit CO2 once in place, and yes it is good dependable base-load source.
Solar is only part of the equation.
Don't even get me started on wind, or I just might fart.

I had a green tip for the City. But when I told it to the City Attorney, they said, "your suggestion was enjoyable to read, but we cannot entertain the idea." My suggestion was that we add to the building code that all new Englewood homes be built with 2 x 6 framing rather than 2 x 4. Framing is the cheapest part of building, and yet it literally makes $100.00 per month difference for us in our energy bills. Our last house was half the size, but the heating bills are just the same as our new home.

I also agree with Denver and Mitch because our new house has higher ceilings and better ventilation, and we don't have air conditioning.
